The UK’s Annual Meeting in General and Emergency Surgery offers contributions from 40 leading speakers from the UK, the US, Australia and Switzerland with an overall theme of Coping with Complications. The programme for this year’s Congress offers the latest opinions from clinical leaders, knowledge updates, topics you won’t find in books and web pages, case discussion, procedure videos, discussion of everyday problems, networking, career development or professional stimulation and renewal.
The programme has a strong clinical focus on current challenges in our practice. Other sessions will look at wider issues including legal consequences of social media in surgery and Wellbeing, Burnout and Work-Life Balance. There are separate sessions targeted at Younger Consultants on how to build (or limit) the practice they wish and at Older Consultants (pensions, changes of direction, easing off successfully). The popular round table “Meet the Experts” lets delegates chat to experts in small groups about clinical issues. This will extend into a Career choice session for trainees.
